COVID-19: Assessing the Impact on CDI Operations
We’re not even at the apex of the infection curve, and the COVID-19 pandemic has already made an enormous impact on the nation and the healthcare industry. Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) departments are no exception.
CDI staff were quickly shuttled home and have had to learn remote review processes and procedures quickly, along with their managers. While some CDI departments struggled with a low census, others were dealing with an influx of presumptive COVID-19 patients, and corresponding dilemmas over whether to query a busy provider, unclear coding scenarios and DRG assignments, and bill holds and impact on discharged not final billed (DNFB).
Join us for this live 90-minute presentation on Thursday, April 30 from 1-2:30 p.m. You’ll hear from three directors of CDI and coding departments and an Iodine subject matter expert about how COVID-19 has impacted their day-to-day operations, and the creative solutions they’ve had to develop under fire of the pandemic.
ACDIS Director Brian Murphy will lead this panel and field your questions. Registration is free and participants will have the opportunity to pre-submit questions at registration. Earn 1.5 CEUs towards your CCDS and/or CCDS-O certifications.
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Identify the impact of COVID-19 on day-to-day CDI operations
- Understand critical clinical, coding, and billing aspects of COVID-19
- Develop appropriate clarification strategies with busy physicians
- Identify additional avenues for CDI contributions during a pandemic
- Develop a reconciliation process for COVID-19 claims
