ACDIS update: Writing for ACDIS in the new year

ACDIS has a slew of publications including the Blog and CDI Journal. We are always looking for folks from the CDI community to contribute to our publications, and the new year approaching seems like the perfect time to get involved!

The ACDIS Blog is often the venue ACDIS recommends to new contributing writers and is a more informal space than the Journal.

To submit an article for the Blog, send your idea or draft to ACDIS Editor Carolyn Riel (criel@acdis.org). Blog posts tend to be between 500-700 words long and can be focused on whatever CDI topic the author desires, provided that it follows ACDIS’ Code of Ethics and does not contradict ACDIS’ published guidance. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis and will be subject to editorial review and approval prior to publication.

Submissions for the CDI Journal should also be sent to Riel. Journal articles tend to be 750-1,500 words long and tend to be a bit more formal than Blog posts. While the topic is left to the author as with the Blog, each edition of the Journal does center around a particular theme and contributors are encouraged to submit articles related to those themes. The Journal is published on a bimonthly basis. The 2022 topics and deadlines are as follows:​

  • January/February 2022: Back to basics and leadership 
    • Deadline: December 1, 2021
  • March/April 2022: Winter (education) games
    • Deadline: February 1, 2022
  • May/June 2022: Diversity in CDI
    • Deadline: April 1, 2022
  • July/August 2022: Clinical and coding
    • Deadline: June 1, 2022
  • September/October 2022: Unconventional settings and expansion
    • Deadline: August 1, 2022
  • November/December 2022: Opportunities in CDI
    • Deadline: September 30, 2022

Contributors published in the Journal receive 0.5 CEUs per 350 published words. Each Journal edition is centered on a theme and contributors are welcome to use that theme as a jumping off point for their articles, but we always like to include some clinical and coding topics as well.
