Note from the Director of Programming: February 22 quarterly member call highlights malnutrition
By Rebecca Hendren
Next week heralds the first of our 2024 ACDIS Quarterly Member Calls. These lively calls are a huge benefit of ACDIS membership, providing an opportunity to learn through discussions on the latest hot topics and the opportunity to ask questions directly to ACDIS experts and Advisory Board members.
Our first quarterly call is at 1:00 p.m. eastern on Thursday, February 22, 2024. You can register for the whole 2024 series here: https://acdis.org/resources/2024-quarterly-conference-calls
The calls are held on GoToWebinar, so you will need to sign up for the series and then the platform will provide you with a log in.
Not only are the Quarterly Member Calls educational, but they also offer 1 ACDIS CEU for listening. You can access these CEUs for 12 months from the program date, so if you missed any of the 2023 calls, now is the time to go back, listen, and claim your CEUs!
ACDIS members can obtain all the CEUs you need for recertification of your CCDS or CCDS-O credential as part of your membership by participating in the quarterly calls, reading the CDI Journal and answering the quiz, joining the free CDI Week webinar, and by regularly listening to the ACDIS Podcast.
The February quarterly call will feature two of our most popular topics:
- Soliciting support for program expansion
- The perennial clinical hot topic of malnutrition
First, Linnea Archibald, our associate director of publications, will highlight some of the key findings of the recently released annual Salary Survey. She will highlight how you can use this tool to support your program and by building support to hire additional staff. She’ll also share the data that shows most CDI professionals want to work remotely and employers must be prepared to accommodate that fact.
Next, I’ll be joined by members of the ACDIS Advisory Board, including Vaughn Matacale, MD, CCDS, director of the clinical documentation advisor program for ECU Health in Greenville, North Carolina.
Vaughn will share his work in representing ACDIS and the entire CDI profession by serving as an advisor to the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN). We will discuss the difficulties CDI encounters, how registered dieticians are valuable partners, and talk about the relationship between CDI and coding related to malnutrition.
I hope ACDIS members will join us!
