ACDIS update: ACDIS/AHIMA seeking input on the CMS FY 2026 IPPS proposed rule

CDI Strategies - Volume 19, Issue 20

Each year, we wait with bated breath for CMS to release the Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) proposed rule, which this year was published on April 11. With more than 480 new codes and 38 revised codes proposed, the impact on both the HIM and CDI professions makes this proposal one of the most important regulatory updates to review!

Now, AHIMA is collecting feedback on behalf of AHIMA and ACDIS for the proposed rule, which is open to commentary until June 10, 2025, at 5 p.m. Eastern. The proposed rule includes a broad request for information seeking input on how to improve the quality and completeness of the health information exchanged between entities and across systems (the "RFI Regarding Data Quality" and accompanying questions can be found through this link).

If you have recommendations or input on how best CMS could achieve this goal, please email your thoughts to advocacy@ahima.org to help AHIMA write its response! We are hoping to receive recommendations from both HIM and CDI voices to help shape the future of healthcare regulatory practices.
