ACDIS update: Diversity and Inclusion Committee celebrates Women’s History Month

CDI Strategies - Volume 19, Issue 10

As you may know, March marks Women’s History Month, a commemorative month to highlight the contributions of women in history and contemporary society. To mark this important month with our ACDIS community, we asked the Diversity and Inclusion Committee to offer some thoughts on the importance of the month. Here’s what they had to say:

  • “Women's History Month gives us an opportunity to acknowledge the incredible accomplishments women have made over the course of human history. I strongly believe in supporting the leadership and voices of women. This month is a great time to reflect on the diverse range of experiences and perspectives that women bring to the table, and it's crucial to continue to elevate voices from all walks of life. I've been inspired by the many women around me. They have pushed me to grow, challenged my thinking, and shared their knowledge in ways that have such a positive impact on my life. I want to take this special time of Women's History Month to not only express my deepest gratitude, but to also recognize the hard work, creativity, and perseverance of women everywhere.”
  • “I think focusing on women’s history this month matters to honor and reflect on the role of women, especially those who embody different roles of womanhood.” Additionally, here is a reflective acrostic poem this committee member included:
    • “W is for Womb: It is the womb of a woman that conceives great people.
    • O is for One: The one whose true strength and light can influence to change the world.
    • M is for Mother: Mothers dedicated their lives in shaping the minds and futures of all generations.
    • E is for Empower: Women empower everyone around them.
    • N is for Nourish: A woman nourishes her entire family mentally, physically, and emotionally to be better humans.”

We hope you’re taking a moment to mark this month with your departments and personally!
