ACDIS update: Magnify your CDI Week experience with these detective-themed activities!

CDI Strategies - Volume 19, Issue 30

Every so often, usually in September, there is a detective case so great that it demands the greatest minds of the century (or industry) to solve… And that time is approaching: namely, CDI Week!

During CDI Week, ACDIS works to make the impact of CDI professionals—like yourself—known. We do this by sharing the latest, most up-to-date industry news, cutting edge resources and education, and—most importantly—fun things for your CDI departments to play around with!

To that end, the 2025 Furthering Education Committee has started compiling activities for you and your team to partake in during CDI Week (September 15-19), starting with a CDI Week activity list!

In line with our theme, “CDI and The Case of The Missing Documentation,” here’s a preview of some of those activities:

  • Detectives are often called to crack the code: So, try sending out the CDI Week word find and crossword puzzle (posted the week before CDI Week on acdis.org), then have a contest so that whoever completes it first receives a prize.
  • Only a charlatan investigator couldn’t get out of a sticky situation: Prove your pudding and create a virtual, printable, or in-person escape room as a fun team-building activity for your team; you can make the puzzles CDI-focused to make it educational as well.
  • The hunt is on Watson: Organize a virtual or in-person scavenger hunt, searching for things such as codes, tip cards and other CDI resources, or what Coding Clinic addresses a scenario.
  • Riddle me this, Riddler: Share a CDI-themed riddle every day with your team; count up who got the most right at the end of the week and celebrate them!

But wait there’s more (but not just yet): so, keep an eye out on our CDI Week page for more resources leading up to CDI Week! And if you have your own activity ideas or resources you’d like to share, feel free to send them to us at info@acdis.org.
