ACDIS update: May/June CDI Journal focuses on expansion

CDI Strategies - Volume 12, Issue 19

“The scope of care a patient requires doesn’t start in the hospital,” writes ACDIS Associate Editorial Director Melissa Varnavas in the May/June edition of the CDI Journal. “It starts with the visit to the patient’s primary care physician, but it doesn’t end there, or at least it shouldn’t.”

As healthcare evolves and involves more and more settings outside of the acute care inpatient facility, CDI has had to follow it. In this newest edition of the Journal, ACDIS connects readers with people conducting record reviews in physician practices, home health agencies, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals.

Additionally, this edition of the Journal includes articles about pediatric reviews and documentation concerns in the special care nursery from the boots on the ground in those areas.

To round out the edition, readers will hear from Boot Camp instructor Sharme Brodie, RN, CCDS, about the latest Coding Clinic release. Lori-Lynne Webb, CPC, CCS-P, CHDA, CDIP, COBGC, discusses the need for CDI in the physician office setting. Karin Killenberger, BSN, RN, CCDS, shares tips for determining if remote CDI is for you. Drew Siegel, MD, CCDS, teaches CDI professionals detective skills. And, Steve Robinson, MS-HSM, PA-O, RN, SSBB, CDIP, talks about how CDI and coding can work together.

The ACDIS team hopes that you enjoy this latest edition and find something of value within its pages.
