ACDIS update: Sample escalation policy added to the Resource Library

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 55

Those familiar with ACDIS’ membership offerings know about the Resource Library, filled with sample query forms, policies and procedures, educational tools, and the like. Even if you’re familiar with the Library, though, it can be easy to miss when new items are posted. Just this week in fact, ACDIS added a sample unanswered query escalation policy under the “Policies & Procedures” section.

All the resources in the Library are submitted by ACDIS members for the betterment of the ACDIS community as a whole. Sharing resources and tactics is part of ACDIS membership—from the Forum, to the publications, to the national conference.

This particular sample policy comes from Lee Ann Landon, BSN, CCMC, CCDS, CDI manager at Honor-Health in Scottsdale, Arizona. The policy outlines a step-by-step process for handling unanswered queries in a timely manner.

While policies and procedures might not be a one-size-fits-all for CDI programs everywhere, the samples such as this one in the Library can serve as a great jumping off point to developing your own policies.

Please take a few moments to check out what’s available in the Library. It’s a great tool for ACDIS members—so take advantage of it!

If you have a tool or resource you’d like to share, please send it along to ACDIS Editor Linnea Archibald (larchibald@acdis.org). The ACDIS membership and leadership team appreciates it!
