ACDIS update: Update to CCDS-O exam to be implemented October 1

CDI Strategies - Volume 18, Issue 30

ACDIS developed the Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist-Outpatient (CCDS-O) to provide a trusted baseline of competency for CDI in the outpatient setting, which includes physician practices, hospital clinics, and the emergency department, among other settings. Currently, the CCDS-O exam uses the CMS-HCC Risk Adjustment Model Version 24, but the exam will be updated to Version 28 on October 1, 2024.

For this reason, you will be unable to schedule a CCDS-O exam for September 23, 2024–September 30, 2024, while it is updated. Those planning to take the exam prior to September 23, 2024, should prepare using the first edition of the CCDS-O Exam Study Guide. Those planning to take the exam October 1 or later should prepare using the second edition!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the ACDIS team at info@acdis.org!
