Conference corner: ACDIS Achievement Award winners share their experiences

“I was very honored that I was even nominated,” said 2017 CDI Professional of the Year winner Rita Fields. “I can remember the first ACDIS conference I attended where this award was presented. […] I could only imagine how proud they were of this high achievement and what it would feel like. I never dreamed that one day I would be the person accepted this esteemed award.” 

In addition to amazing educational and networking opportunities, the annual ACDIS Conference offers the CDI community the opportunity to honor professionals who exemplify the documentation improvement mission in the ACDIS Achievement Awards.  

Candance Blankenship, the 2016 ACDIS Rookie of the Year Award winner, says that earning the award only “heightened her passion for the CDI profession. There was really an overwhelming sense of validation, personal pride, and professionalism.” 

“Since our program started, I’ve learned so much,” said 2017 ACDIS Excellence in Provider Engagement award winner Nicole Fox. “I’ve been inspired to be an engaged medical director and constantly look for ways to improve the program and engage physicians in CDI.”
