Membership update: Volunteers needed for 2018 ACDIS Conference Committee

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 26

Still reeling from the 10th annual ACDIS conference in Las Vegas? Thrilled by the sessions and excited to share what you learned with your co-workers? Can’t wait until next year’s event?

Well, it’s already time to start planning the 11th annual conference in San Antonio, Texas, for next May. And, we need your help to pull it off.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for the 2018 ACDIS Conference Committee, please complete the application form no later than Tuesday, June 20.

ACDIS Conference Committee members receive 50% off conference admission but should expect to attend as many as eight to 10 one-hour meetings during work hours, August through October, devoting additional time to review speaker applications on their own, and spending several hours of additional work reviewing 2018 CDI award nominations from January through February of 2018. Please make sure you can meet this time commitment prior to applying.

“I think my favorite part was seeing the variety of speaker submissions—just how much information and depth proposals covered. It’s so exciting to see how CDI programs have grown over the years, too,” says Lynn Sisler, RN, MS, CCDS, ACM, a member of the 2017 Conference Committee.

The application asks demographic information, requests applicants’ thoughts regarding past events, and desires for future educational sessions.

Throughout the process, the 12-member team will establish core session topics, special panels and events, review speaker applications and presentation proposals, assess presentations to determine audience level, and ultimately select all 2018 speakers.

Those interested in serving on the 2018 Conference Committee must be active ACDIS members and have attended at least one previous ACDIS conference.

“Looking at how much work goes into planning the whole thing was a highlight and probably the biggest learning experience for me. You don’t realize it until you’ve been in that role,” Faisal Hussain, MD, another member of the 2017 Conference Committee, says.
