News: HHS, CMS to form committee to provide federal health program recommendations
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and CMS announced the creation of a Healthcare Advisory Committee for the Secretary of HHS and Administrator of CMS last week. The committee will serve as an advisory group on topics including “preventing chronic disease, reducing regulatory burden, enabling data interoperability, identifying opportunities to improve quality in the Medicaid program, and updating risk adjustment and quality measures in the Medicare Advantage program,” the American Hospital Association (AHA) reported.
According to the announcement, CMS is accepting nominations (both self-nominated and organization-nominated) for advisory committee members for 30 days following the publication of the announcement in the August 22 Federal Register. Specifically, they’re looking for individuals with expertise in chronic disease prevention and management, federally administered healthcare financing, and delivery system reform.
More information about the nomination process can be found in the Federal Register.
