Aligning CDI with Clinical, Quality Priorities: 2026 ACDIS Leadership Council Findings

CDI departments today are required to take on multiple projects to support their organizations’ overall health, which means the days of focusing solely on reimbursement and DRG accuracy are over.

In collaboration with Waystar, ACDIS issued a survey in March 2026 to members of the ACDIS CDI Leadership Council to explore the ways CDI departments are aligning their efforts specifically with clinical and quality priorities. The survey gathered data on barriers to effective collaboration, alignment of CDI priorities with quality performance, the impact of denials on quality outcomes, the impact of AI-enabled documentation technology, and the tools CDI leaders leverage to strengthen CDI’s contribution to quality and clinical priorities.

Now, ACDIS is pleased to partner again with Waystar to share the results of this survey with the broader CDI community and highlight the implications for all CDI professionals—both those in leadership and staff-level positions.
