Note from the ACDIS Editor: Armor up for a CDI Week of magic and adventure!
by Jess Fluegel
Once upon a time, in a faraway land brimming with magical possibilities and foes of mythical size, the kingdom of healthcare was in desperate need of medical documentation integrity. But who would answer the call? Only the bravest, most loyal and gallant of heroes would be worthy to wield the sword of accuracy, the shield of compliance, and the armor of education. And surely, they could not ride into the battles of query escalation and denial combat alone—a knight of the CDI round table would only succeed on their adventures with the aid of allies and support of their brothers and sisters in arms!
This year, I once again have the utmost pleasure to be heading the festivities and education surrounding CDI Week, and am terribly excited to share the official 2026 theme: “Knights of the CDI Round Table.”
Our 2026 theme will focus on celebrating the magic in everything CDI professionals do, from braving new adventures, to fighting foes, to saving documentation damsels, much like heroic knights of legend! CDI Week will take place from September 14-18, so mark your calendars for all the epic fantasy-themed activities in store and start planning your own adventures now.
The Furthering Education Committee and I will be hard at work creating fun activities and educational resources for you and your team to use during CDI Week, but in the meantime, we need your help! A big part of the education we offer for CDI Week comes from the industry data we collect from the CDI community at large in the CDI Week Industry Survey, which is open for responses now.
This year we are gathering information about the following hot topics:
- Provider education and engagement
- Query practices and compliance
- Denials mitigation and CDI involvement
- Outpatient CDI and risk adjustment
- Pediatrics and neonatal CDI
Whether you are a CDI specialist, educator, leader, physician advisor, HIM professional, or otherwise, every CDI professional’s input will help us to capture the state of the industry with the utmost accuracy! The CDI Week Industry Survey is open from now until July 6, so I hope you’ll be among those to contribute.
The full results of the survey, along with expert commentary, will be published during CDI Week 2026 and made available for ACDIS members and nonmembers alike!
