Note from the ACDIS Editor: CDI Journal focuses on reimbursement concerns

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 52

By Linnea Archibald

Though any CDI specialist will tell you this profession isn’t about money, a facility’s reimbursement can certainly be affected by CDI professionals’ work. Because of this undeniable fact, we’ve dedicated the November/December edition of the CDI Journal to the multi-faceted world of reimbursement.

Within the newest edition’s pages, you’ll find valuable information covering reimbursement topics such as using PEPPER data for denial defense and tracking CMI metrics. You’ll also get a glimpse into the non-reimbursement fueled world of PPS-exempt cancer centers.

We’ve also pulled together a recap of the festivities of CDI Week 2017, which celebrated CDI growth and expansion. Plus, we’ve included some of our favorite pictures submitted by ACDIS members from around the country.

This issue of the CDI Journal also features a wide range of guest and opinion columns. You’ll hear from ACDIS Associate Editorial Director Melissa Varnavas about the importance of keeping abreast of the healthcare reimbursement landscape. Cathy A. Farraher, RN, BSN, MBA, CCM, CCDS, walks through steps for educating the C-suite. Plus, Candace Blankenship, BSN, RN, CCDS, shares her insight into the new heart failure codes.

And those aren’t even all the articles and topics covered.

Healthcare reimbursement changes rapidly. This issue of the CDI Journal seeks to prepare and equip you with the necessary tools for your daily CDI record reviews.

As always, we hope you find it helpful.
