Note from the ACDIS Editor: New CDI Journal edition helps you set new-year professional goals!

CDI Strategies - Volume 18, Issue 1

by Jess Fluegel

The new year always has an exciting energy of possibility and new horizons. Though nothing about our lives objectively changed from December 31 to January 1, it’s a great time to refresh and start a new mindset for the future! New gym memberships and meal plans abound; goals surrounding personal interests get a fresh eye. But what does your professional new year look like? Outside of departmental meetings and statistical comparisons, have you considered yet how you want your career to develop in 2024?

For this edition of the CDI Journal, we hope to give you some insight into all the small ways CDI professionals can move toward their professional and organizational goals. With inspiring stories from our guest contributors and a focus throughout on finding your own path to success, these articles can give you the inspiration you need to think about your own path forward and the steps you can take next, big or small. One of the themes we hope you’ll see is that these changes take time; they do not happen overnight, and you shouldn’t expect your own goals to come to fruition overnight either.

In this edition, readers will find articles about:

This edition also includes our regular Meet a Member feature to offer advice directly from a CDI professional in the ACDIS community.

Writing for the CDI Journal is a great opportunity for CDI professionals to expand their knowledge and showcase their professional discoveries. Our next edition’s topic will be expansion and outpatient CDI with this in mind! If you have experience to share and/or advice to give on expanding into new settings with CDI or another related topic, we’d love to receive your submission. Contributors published in the Journal receive 0.5 CEUs per 350 published words (articles tend to be around the 750-1,500-word mark), and the deadline for the March/April edition is February 1, 2024!

We hope this edition helps you set better professional development goals this year and gives you ideas for how your career and department can flourish. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or are interested in writing for our next Journal edition!
