Note from the Associate Editor: Be a part of something big on an ACDIS committee!

CDI Strategies - Volume 19, Issue 23

by Joshua Raposa

Machines sometimes get a bad rap, but I like machines. Within a machine, there are specialized functions that the whole could not do without. For instance, in a car, you have a carburetor, a steering wheel, a heated seat, and break lights (as well as other things). Each component does its part, contributing to the overall architecture of the design, and—in the end—you have a wonderful new object: a car.

ACDIS is, in many ways, much like a machine. You have editors, directors, product managers, event coordinators, IT people, and—most importantly—the membership. However, as far as the production of practical CDI knowledge is concerned, one of our most critical groups is our committees.

Through the efforts of our ACDIS committees, our association continuously improves, growing its resources and guidance, and crafting the correct and necessary education to help everyone in the profession succeed. Right now, ACDIS is seeking applications for the following committees through June 30.

  • Events Committee: This committee is responsible for planning ACDIS in-person and virtual events in collaboration with the ACDIS administration to meet the education and networking needs of CDI professionals.
  • Furthering Education Committee: This committee is responsible for maintaining and updating the ACDIS CDI Scholarship Program and planning for the annual CDI Week activities.
  • Diversity and Inclusion Committee: This committee is responsible for facilitating social responsibility via the promotion of a positive workplace environment for all CDI professionals irrespective of social identities, educational backgrounds, and mental statuses. • Physician Advisor Committee: This committee is responsible for providing the collective expertise and written guidance for physician advisors in CDI through individual feedback, group discussion, as well as ACDIS recommendations and guidance.
