Note from the Associate Editorial Director: 2025 Journal topics posted, plan your articles now!
by Linnea Archibald
I’m sure many of you are waiting with bated breath for the release of the final CDI Journal edition this year, which will be published at the beginning of November and focus on quality and risk adjustment, but the ACDIS team is already busily preparing for our 2025 editions.
The CDI Journal is ACDIS’ flagship members-only publication, published six times per year. Each edition centers around a theme and includes a mix of articles written by our own internal editorial staff based on interviews with industry experts, columns from our CDI education specialists, and guest contributions from members just like you. Most editions come in at roughly 40 pages and we try to include articles for a variety of experience levels to meet the varying needs of our members.
As we plan for our 2025 editions, I’m delighted to share that we have published all our upcoming topics on the ACDIS website, along with the submission deadlines, for those interested in contributing a column in the new year! Here’s what we have planned for the coming year:
- January/February 2025:
- Topic: Your Career in CDI
- Deadline: December 1, 2024
- March/April 2025:
- Topic: Measuring success
- Deadline: February 3, 2025
- May/June 2025:
- Topic: Innovation: Expansion, Technology, and Workflow
- Deadline: April 1, 2025
- July/August 2025:
- Topic: Education
- Deadline: June 2, 2025
- September/October 2025:
- Topic: Global perspectives on CDI: How CDI can impact all areas of healthcare
- Deadline: August 1, 2025
- November/December 2025:
- Topic: Quality and health equity
- Deadline: October 1, 2025
Even if you’ve never submitted an article in the past, we’d be delighted to hear from you, and every article is reviewed by our editorial staff so we can give you suggested edits and feedback as necessary. We want to highlight your expertise in the Journal and seeing people published for the first time is one of our favorite things.
To sweeten the deal, we also award published contributors with ACDIS CEUs at the rate of 0.5 ACDIS CEU per 350 published words in the Journal, so it’s a great way to make some headway on your recertification requirements too. Most contributor articles are 750-1,500 words in length.
I encourage you to take a look at the list of topics and make note of anything you might be interested in writing about—it’s never early to start planning. You can also find the whole calendar in the FAQ section under the “Member Resources” tab and on any of the CDI Journal pages in the right-hand column of the website.
If you have any questions about the process of submitting a Journal article, or you want to chat about an idea you have in mind for one of our 2025 editions, feel free to email me at linnea.archibald@hcpro.com and ACDIS Editor Jess Fluegel at jess.fluegel@hcpro.com. We can’t wait to hear from you!
