Note from the Associate Editorial Director: Make a difference for your CDI community

CDI Strategies - Volume 20, Issue 6

by Linnea Archibald

Our Advisory Board and volunteer committees are the cornerstone of our association, from writing industry guidance to vetting materials posted in our member Resource Library, maintaining and updating our credentialing programs, reviewing regulatory updates, and more.

If you want to get involved in this vital work, you have a few more days (until Sunday, February 8) to submit a volunteer application for one of the following groups:

  • ACDIS Advisory Board: The board is responsible for providing leadership, expertise, and an industry voice for the ACDIS community through authoring official Position Papers and White Papers, participating on the Quarterly Member Call panel discussions, and more. The Advisory Board membership includes CDI professionals from backgrounds representative of the broader CDI community and this year we are seeking one member from a physician background, one from an HIM background, and two from a clinician background. All finalists will be subject to a public vote by the ACDIS membership this spring.
  • Certification Committee: This committee is responsible for maintaining and updating the CCDS and CCDS-O Certification Programs, including the exam and its prerequisites.
  • Regulatory Committee: This committee is responsible for reviewing regulatory policy for updates pertinent to the CDI profession and providing summary, interpretation, and analysis to the ACDIS community.
  • Resource Library Committee: This committee is responsible for reviewing materials donated to the ACDIS community for publication in the Resource Library for accuracy, compliance, relevance, and effectiveness.

Beyond the important work volunteers serving on our committees do for the ACDIS community as a whole, these individuals also forge long-term relationships with their peers, grow professionally, and gain a broader understanding of the industry and their association. Each of us on the ACDIS team works with select committees and it is a privilege to see firsthand the expertise they possess and share willingly.

If you are interested in learning more about the scope and work of each committee, click here. We want your expertise and guidance, so if you’re interested, make sure to submit your application by February 8, 2026.

We hope you’ll consider volunteering your time and expertise this year!
