Symposium spotlight: Unconventional things to do in Orlando

CDI Blog - Volume 11, Issue 221

The ACDIS Symposium
starts tomorrow!

It’s hard to believe that the ACDIS Symposium: Outpatient CDI kicks off tomorrow. The ACDIS team is excited to see many familiar faces and connect with new friends as well. If you see us at the event, come say hello!

While there are obvious attractions to visit in Orlando (hello, Disney!) during your downtime or the days surrounding the event, there are also a number of off-the-beaten track activities to choose from. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Boggy Creek Airboat Rides: The airboat rides take up to 17 passengers at a time on a tour of the Florida Everglades at speeds up to 45 miles per hour. Plus, you may just glimpse some alligators in their natural habitat if you go at the right time!
  • Bok Tower Gardens: The Bok Tower Gardens offer a great option for those looking for a leisurely afternoon in nature. The gardens include beautiful grounds, a 205-foot art deco tower, and the Pinewood Estate.
  • Chocolate Kingdom Factory Adventure Tour: During the Chocolate Kingdom tour, visitors will get to witness the entire process of how a cocoa bean is transformed into chocolate. Plus, for an additional cost, you can create a customized chocolate bar at the conclusion of the tour. This is a great option for families with children.
  •  Giraffe Ranch: At the ranch, visitors can take an educational tour on 4-wheel drive vehicle, on camel-back, on llama-back, or on a Segway, across the 47 acre ranch. During the excursions, visitors can feed giraffes, pet camels, and meet rhinos and pygmy hippos.
  • Orlando Tree Trek and Adventure Park: For the adventurous types, the Orlando Tree Trek and Adventure Park offers a great option just 15 minutes from the Symposium location. Visitors can zip line through the forest and get a unique view of the Florida landscape.
  • The Crayola Experience: This is another great option if you’re traveling with your family. During the tour, visitors will get to name and wrap their own Crayola crayon, learn how crayons are made, create art and sculptures, enjoy a two-story playground, and see the world’s largest crayon.
  • The Safari Wilderness Ranch: The Safari Wilderness Ranch offers visitors the full safari experience without going to the other side of the world. Covering 260 acres of land, the tours are extensive and will give visitors views of wild cattle, horses, lemurs, zebras, ostriches, and more.

We hope that you’re as excited about the Symposium as we are here at ACDIS! If you’re looking for more activity ideas, visit the Orlando area tourism website.
