Note from the ACDIS Editor: Dive into all things education with the CDI Journal!
by Jess Fluegel
As almost anyone in the CDI ranks will tell you, the learning in this profession never ends. Even as the temperatures warm and the beach calls our names, the new CDI information doesn’t cease. That’s why we’ve decided to devote the entire July/August edition of the CDI Journal to educational topics. Think of it as an intensive summer school class for you to enjoy between vacations and sunbathing.
In this edition, readers will find articles about:
- Investing in the future of CDI with resident education
- Tackling provider discrepancies in documentation
- Remote education and engagement
- The importance of self-education
- The future of medicine and early resident engagement
- The evolution of the CDI educator role
- The roles and responsibilities of an educator
- Trainee engagement in CDI
- Case management and CDI collaboration
- Perspectives on mortality reviews
- CDI engagement with surgeons
Of course, this edition also includes our regular Meet a Member feature to offer advice directly from a CDI professional in the ACDIS community.
The ACDIS team hopes you enjoy this latest edition and find something helpful in its pages. As always, the CDI Journal is a benefit of ACDIS membership. To learn more about joining ACDIS, click here. ACDIS members can earn one CCDS/CCDS-O CEU for reading each edition of the Journal and taking the associated quiz. You can learn more on the full edition download page.
With this edition out to our members, the ACDIS editorial team is already quite excited about the trending topic our next Journal edition will focus on: denials management! If you have experience with appeal writing or proving CDI’s impact on denials management, we’d love to book an interview with you. If you have something to say about clinical validation, the role of CDI in medical necessity, or any other denials-related topic, we’d love to get an article submission from you! You can read more about the guidelines and perks of writing an article here.
Either way, please feel free to reach out to the ACDIS team at info@acdis.org with your interest or any questions you may have. The deadline for submissions to the September/October edition on denials management is Tuesday, August 1. All are welcome to get involved and contribute—I look forward to reading everyone’s submissions!
