Local chapter update: Chapter leadership responsibilities

CDI Strategies - Volume 18, Issue 6

Any organization needs strong leadership. Therefore, for new and returning ACDIS local chapter and networking group leaders, it may be helpful to review some core leadership responsibilities:

  • First, per the Local Chapter Agreement Form, all chapters and networking groups should have three leaders on the core leadership team from at least two different organizations. Additionally, all leaders must be ACDIS national members to effectively act as liaisons between the chapter and the national organization. All leaders must sign their Agreement Form by the end of January annually to ensure national can maintain up-to-date information for the chapter.
  • Secondly, chapter leaders agree to actively recruiting, mentoring, and managing additional volunteers to facilitate chapter events. This entails mentoring incoming volunteers to raise up the next generation of leaders and establishing a regular timeline for leadership rotations/transitions. (Please plan to include ACDIS national in these plans and inform us of any changes as soon as they arise.)
  • Thirdly, chapter leaders are expected to promote national membership to local/networking group members and use the Official Online Membership Roster to collect member info (note that members receive a 20% discount code for ACDIS national membership by filling out this form). Leaders also agree to update ACDIS national on any changes to their chapter activities, upcoming events, and leadership duties (many of these changes can be communicated via the Leadership Request Form.)
  • Finally, leaders agree to hold at least two meetings annually for their chapter members, though ACDIS national recommends a quarterly meeting cadence. We also highly encourage leaders to apply to offer ACDIS CCDS/CCDS-O CEUs for their meetings at least 30 days prior to the scheduled meeting.

To all of our local chapter and networking group leaders: we look forward to working with you in the coming year!
