Note from the ACDIS Editor: The ACDIS CDI Scholarship application is open, tell your friends!

CDI Strategies - Volume 18, Issue 45

by Jess Fluegel

ACDIS exists to serve as the premier healthcare community for CDI and provide only the best education and resources for those in the CDI field—though for some CDI professionals, accessing education beyond the free resources ACDIS offers can be difficult. If you are passionate about CDI, love to learn, and want to share your knowledge with others, but have had little opportunity to access resources for furthering education, the ACDIS CDI Scholarship Program was created for people just like you.

The 2024/2025 application period for the annual program is currently open until Friday, November 15, and we need the CDI community’s help to spread the word! Share the news with your department, your networking group, and your CDI friends so those who are in need of this opportunity are made aware. Now, here’s a little more information about each of the four scholarships offered this year:

Our first award is called the Introduction to CDI Scholarship, and it grants the recipient a one-year ACDIS membership as well as enrollment in the ACDIS CDI Apprenticeship program. If you are new to the CDI field or know someone who is, this scholarship is a great opportunity to get a head start on the essentials of CDI and access to the wealth of information an ACDIS membership provides.

Our second award is the Professional Development Scholarship, which grants free registration to an online CDI Boot Camp of the recipient's choice. Given the wide array of CDI Boot Camp topics that ACDIS offers, like for CDI educators, CDI and quality care measures, clinical validation in CDI, leaders in CDI, and so on, this scholarship is meant to further a CDI professional’s knowledge at any point in their career.

Our Outpatient CDI or Physician Advisor Scholarship is a rather special award, given that you can choose between free registration to the ACDIS Symposium: Outpatient CDI or to the Physician Advisor Forum, which are both held prior to the 2025 ACDIS conference on Saturday, May 3 through Sunday, May 4, in Kissimmee, Florida. This scholarship may be particularly valuable to leaders who are looking to expand in their review settings or get further advice on their current outpatient endeavors, or who want to improve their provider engagement, but any CDI professionals are welcome to apply!

Last but certainly not least, the Melissa Varnavas Scholarship grants the recipient free registration to the 2025 ACDIS national conference, which will be held Sunday, May 4 through Wednesday, May 7, next year. Priority is given to those who have never attended before!

The application for these scholarships is available on our website under the “Free Resources” tab in the “ACDIS Scholarship Program” section (or clicking here). This section also contains more information about the program’s eligibility requirements, review process, and a preview of the application questions.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions! The Furthering Education Committee and I look forward to receiving your application.
