Conference corner: Submit poster proposals, Achievement Award nominations during the holiday break

CDI Strategies - Volume 18, Issue 53

As a reminder, the 2025 nomination period for the ACDIS Achievement Awards and poster proposal applications are open through Tuesday, December 31, 2024. As we enter a few days of rest of relaxation for the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States, it’s the perfect time to think about who you might want to nominate for an award and/or what you’d like to present through a poster at the 2025 ACDIS conference!

The Awards will be presented to recipients in a special ceremony and the posters will be on display in the exhibit hall at the 2025 ACDIS conference, happening May 4-7, 2025, in Kissimmee, Florida.

If you have an inspiring CDI professional in your circle, consider recognizing their achievements by nominating them for an award using this form. Click on the links below to learn more about the qualifications for each of these prestigious awards:

  • CDI Professional of the Year: This award is the highest honor bestowed by the Association and recognizes an individual who stands out as a consummate representative of the best attributes of a CDI professional. The nominee must have at least 10 years as a CDI professional at the time of their nomination.
  • Accomplishment in CDI: This award recognizes an individual who has made significant achievements as a CDI professional in their facility or within their broader organization. The nominee must have at least two years as a CDI professional at the time of their nomination.
  • Excellence in Provider Engagement: This award recognizes an individual who has made a substantive difference within their organization and the broader community through enhancing medical staff understanding, collaboration, and engagement. The nominee must have two or more years of experience in this role at the time of their nomination.
  • Melissa Varnavas Spirit of Service: This award is named in honor of our friend and colleague, Melissa Varnavas. It recognizes an individual who has committed themselves to service by volunteering their time and skills to assist their peers and advance the CDI profession.
  • Diversity in CDI: This award is intended to honor those organizations whose CDI departments are going above and beyond with creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Diversity in CDI looks like folks from different racial and ethnic backgrounds, those from minority groups in leadership positions, different educational backgrounds outside of the traditional clinical realms, inclusion of all gender identities and sexual orientations, and all abilities.

As previously mentioned, we’re also accepting poster proposals for the conference. This is your opportunity to show the CDI community what you, your team, and your organization have accomplished and inspire other conference attendees in the processPosters detail an innovative project, newly established protocol, or successful educational outreach at your organization. Past posters have discussed topics such as query compliance, artificial intelligence, pediatrics, patient safety indicators, and CDI workflow, to name a few.

Poster creators offer insight and answer questions from passers-by during a designated break at the conference, granting us all the opportunity to see what is happening in CDI beyond our own backyards. In the event your group’s poster is selected, one member will receive $200 off conference admission, and all members will receive four ACDIS CEUs. You can learn more about the requirements for poster presentations here. To submit your poster idea for consideration, click here!

All nominations for Achievement Awards and poster proposals will be reviewed and selected by the ACDIS Events Committee in conjunction with ACDIS leadership.

Note that all poster applications and awards nominations must be submitted by the end of the year to be considered. We cannot accept any submissions after December 31, 2024.
