Director’s Note: Conference lineup set; poster applications and CDI Professional of the Year nominations sought

CDI Strategies - Volume 7, Issue 2

This year’s ACDIS Conference takes place May 21–23, 2013 at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

Take a second look at those dates—we have expanded this year’s conference to two and a half days to accommodate more than 30 great speakers and sessions and we’ve kept the price of the conference the same.
What types of sessions will you find at the conference? Here’s a sample:
  • A case study from a lawyer who successfully defended a hospital against allegations of alleged improper physician queries
  • A review of the new ASPEN malnutrition consensus guidelines and implementation strategies
  • A panel presentation regarding results of a large-scale study, conducted by the University HealthSystem Consortium, regarding Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety Indicators
  • A session focusing on the different types of encephalopathy and capturing brain-related severity of illness
  • A number of ICD-10 sessions, from specific documentation requirements under the new coding system to assessing vulnerabilities and developing educational action plans
  • Sessions on merging CDI processes and procedures with electronic health records
Professional of the Year nominees
As usual, we will award the 2013 CDI Professional of the Year and two winners of Recognition of CDI Professional Achievement. The nomination period for this is now open. Please click this link, and download the nomination form. Fill it out and email it back to Brian Murphy bmurphy@cdiassociation.com by Friday, February 8.

Poster session applications
We’re also bringing back our popular poster session. The poster session is an informal way for hospitals to share their CDI-related successes with each other, network, and exchange ideas and information.
If you would like to submit an idea for consideration, please download our poster application form, complete it, and email it to ACDIS Member Services Specialist Penny Richards at prichards@cdiassociation.com, by Friday, February 1.

If selected, presenters will receive a 50% discount off the price of conference admission. If the poster is a team project, the discount applies to only one person.

The 2013 ACDIS Conference Committee will select up to 25 posters for display and will serve as judges for the 2013 poster session.
