Note from the Editorial Manager: Apply for the 2026 Physician Advisor Mastermind!

The reach of physician advisors spans across so many areas, from clinical to quality, denials mitigation to provider education, CDI to utilization review, and so much more. But the physician advisor role is still a relatively new one; in fact, according to a recent ACDIS survey of physician advisors, more than 50% of respondents have only been in their role for five years or less. And every program structures the role differently, making it extremely difficult for physician advisors to seek advice from their peers on navigating obstacles and challenges.

That’s where the ACDIS Physician Advisor Mastermind comes in. To help create connections among members of this unique group, ACDIS brings together a small cohort of physician advisors dedicated to brainstorming ideas and solving challenges. This group is known as the Physician Advisor Mastermind and meets virtually every other month to discuss issues that are relevant to physician advisors.

In each meeting, two physician advisors take their turn sitting in the “hot seat,” presenting a challenge or question to the group and soliciting feedback. This allows members of the group to problem-solve in real time and gain valuable perspective from their peers. There’s no fee to join. Instead, members are selected based on their commitment to participate in regular meetings, share and receive advice generously, and make meaningful progress in their careers. 

I am fortunate enough to be the ACDIS team member that facilitates this group’s meetings, and after four years, I can honestly say I’ve never seen any opportunity like this for physician advisors. The small group setting is intimate and the trust built allows for vulnerability and honest conversations. ACDIS is proud to bring together peers who otherwise may have never met, and many members from past cohorts are still in touch today.
