Local chapter update: Applying for CCDS CEUs for your local chapter event

CDI Strategies - Volume 13, Issue 32

Offering CCDS CEUs for your next ACDIS local chapter event can be a great way to entice folks to participate. While there’s no monetary charge for chapters offering these credits, chapter leaders must follow the following process.

First, local chapter leaders must complete the local chapter CEU application and email it to Certifications Coordinator Penny Richards (prichards@acdis.org) and ACDIS Editor Linnea Archibald (larchibald@acdis.org) at least 30 days in advance of the meeting. This allows ACDIS the time necessary to process the application and request clarifications if needed.

The application should include all the details for the event (if there are multiple speakers, please include them on one form). It should be accompanied by speaker/presenter bios (with credentials), a list of learning objectives, a list of benefits to the attendee, and a timed agenda.

Please remember that one CEU is provided per hour of instruction, excluding breaks. For example, if your event is six hours long with four hours of educational sessions and two hours of networking breaks, you would be eligible to offer four CCDS CEUs.

You can use just one application for the whole event, regardless of the number of speakers you have presenting. There’s room on the application (and in your supplemental materials outlined on the application) to include all the presenters at once.

A good rule of thumb to ensure you send the application on time is to email it to ACDIS as soon as the speaker and agenda for the meeting are set. Typically, ACDIS will notify leaders that their application has been approved and then send over the CEU certificate a day or two before the event.
