Local chapter update: Thoughts from the Chapter Advisory Board

CDI Strategies - Volume 13, Issue 51

The Chapter Advisory Board meets virtually nearly every month to discuss concerns of local chapter volunteers and to share their thoughts about how ACDIS can help improve the experiences of those volunteers and the members they serve. Over the past year, they’ve worked diligently on a number of initiatives and during a few sessions have expressed some thoughts about the benefits of involvement. Here’s some of what they had to say:

  • “Those serving a local chapter leadership role need to be open to new ideas and engage others creatively to help them grow and become a future leader.”
  • “It’s important for volunteer leaders to really engage, one-on-one, with chapter members so they feel connected to the larger group. Doing this can also help the leadership team identify members’ strengths and pull those with specific talents into the fold to help out the chapter.”
  • “By volunteering on the local level with my chapter I realized that I can make a difference for my profession despite being a worker-bee within my organization.”
  • “If you have a passion for what you do, you need to share it. By doing so you not only lift yourself up but others as well.”
