Local chapter update: Develop a sponsorship strategy for local events

CDI Strategies - Volume 13, Issue 46

ACDIS sponsors, vendors, or consultants often approach local chapter leaders with generous donation offers to help groups facilitate their educational offerings and support attendees with food and raffle items.

The first step in accepting assistance from sponsors is to create a policy that outlines what the chapter will accept in terms of involvement. For example, some groups allow open participation while others limit involvement to those professionals actively engaged in CDI activities. Chapter leaders should also clearly define what educational sessions sponsors might be able to donate and ensure that no conflict of interest exists between the educational content related products or services.

For larger events and more advanced chapters, leadership may wish to consider developing a tiered approach to sponsor involvement with explicit, commiserate participation benefits related to the type of sponsorship provided such as providing the lunch sponsor some non-educational time to address the attendees and allowing complimentary admission to the event for a set number of the sponsor’s staff.

There are an amazing number of local events coming up in the month of October. Local chapter leaders should reach out to the ACDIS administration if they have any questions or concerns.

The following is a list of upcoming events for ACDIS local chapters. If you have an upcoming event you would like to include, please email Melissa Varnavas (mvarnavas@acdis.org) and Linnea Archibald (larchibald@acdis.org).
