Local chapter update: How to use the online membership roster

CDI Strategies - Volume 13, Issue 14

As discussed a couple weeks ago, ACDIS national has rolled out a new online membership roster which chapters are required to use, per the Local Chapter Agreement Form. While there are benefits to the individual chapter member (namely, they’ll get a discount on national membership upon completion of the form), the ACDIS leadership team wanted to share a few ways leaders can use the roster for their chapter business.

First, some chapter leaders setup a couple laptops at the registration table during meetings, opened to the online membership roster so that folks attending the meeting can update their info or fill out the form for the first time on the spot.

Other chapters use the roster as a registration form prior to their event. They ask members to fill out the roster by a certain date and then, when that deadline has come and gone, the leaders request the roster from ACDIS Associate Editorial Director Melissa Varnavas and Editor Linnea Archibald. Varnavas and Archibald pull the list and the leaders can see how many attendees to expect by pulling the names of those who filled out the form during the specified time period.

Chapter leaders can also use the roster to determine who to send continuing education certificates to after a meeting. During the meeting, leaders can instruct attendees to fill out the roster within 24 hours of the meeting and then request the list from Varnavas and Archibald at the close of the time period. Leaders can pull the list of those who filled out the form in the 24-hour window and send out the certificate to that list.

Whether or not you use the list for event registration, adding a line to chapter emails about the roster will help ensure that your contact list continues to be up-to-date. Try adding a note to this effect: “Keeping your contact information up-to-date is your responsibility. We ask members to complete the online membership roster on a quarterly basis and as needed due to changes in your person contact information or job status.”

And remember, leaders can reach out to Varnavas and Archibald at any point to request their current membership roster.

The following is a list of upcoming events for ACDIS local chapters. If you have an upcoming event you would like to include, please email Varnavas and Archibald.
