Local chapter update: Pediatric networking group seeks input related to heart failure in children

CDI Strategies - Volume 13, Issue 34

The ACDIS pediatric networking group (Association of Pediatric Documentation Improvement Specialists, or APDIS) has formed a subcommittee to tackle clinical, coding, and documentation concerns related to heart failure in the pediatric setting. As with many conditions afflicting children, clinical scenarios and social concerns represent challenges for CDI specialists. Often coding rules don’t seem to apply to the clinical picture or treatments provided, standard clinical definitions prove difficult to identify, and therefor crafting effective, compliant queries can be daunting.

The pediatric workgroup is looking to connect with professionals who have developed standardized definitions for pediatric heart failure or who have interesting case scenarios to share as they develop a white paper on this topic. Please send any information to Melissa Varnavas at mvarnavas@acdis.org.

The following is a list of upcoming events for ACDIS local chapters. If you have an upcoming event you would like to include, please email Melissa Varnavas (mvarnavas@acdis.org) and Linnea Archibald (larchibald@acdis.org).
