Local chapter update: How to encourage volunteer speaker involvement

CDI Strategies - Volume 13, Issue 17

Editor’s note: Angelica Naylor, MBA, BSN, RN, CCDS, co-leader of the Kansas City, Missouri, local chapter leaders, wrote this letter to her chapter members to encourage new volunteer speaker involvement and to highlight the benefits of volunteering. Leaders can adapt the letter and use it to encourage involvement in their own chapters.

Email body:

Kansas City ACDIS wants you! The more we know, the more we can grow!

We are searching for new volunteers to present at our local ACDIS meeting.

It takes all of us to keep this chapter learning and growing. We do not all do the same thing the same way. Please share your knowledge on what you do or what your organization is doing in CDI. Coders, physician advisors, quality, and case management professionals are also welcome to share their knowledge and expertise. We are all one big team, and we could not do CDI without our expert colleagues!

Fun Facts:

  • Did you know that we have 71 active members in the Kansas City ACDIS chapter?
  • We have 12 people who selected “Yes” they are willing to present at a meeting, seven out of that 12 have already presented, some more than once!
  • If all members were to present at least once, knowledge could be shared to over 5,000 people in the CDI community!

Please reach out to one of your chapter leaders if you are interested, have questions, or even if it’s a thought but you’re not sure on how to put the thought into action. We are here to help!
